Carefully nested within the fabric of the industrial woodland at Hooke Park, the Field Station is a flexible-use structure that provides a field base for research and teaching, a shelter for our foresters and for passing walkers, and an outdoor classroom for local forest schools, as well as being a base for informal gatherings, talks and events on site. In the longer term, the Field Station is imagined as an observatory for monitoring change, as the neighbouring agricultural landscapes in view from the structure undergo a rewilding programme and as the forestry growth and harvesting evolves around it. The Field Station received a 2023 Wood Award for Research and Innovation.
