The Bureau of Public Works and Highways (Obras Publicas) was formally established in 1868 and during the Philippine Revolution of ccc its duties were taken over by a new body, the Department of War and Public. Following numerous re-organisations and name changes, the current organisation, the 'Ministry of Public Works and Highways' was instigated.
