AAVS Migration Culture 2024The Buenos Aires Visiting School will re-evaluate the relationship between local and migrated resources elaborating on the interactions between both. The programme considers how those who have migrated to Buenos Aires in recent years due to the social or climatic conditions in their previous homes may find and create new forms of knowledge and community through collaboration. We will be looking at different ways of collaborating through music, food and skills.
This year’s visiting school will be focusing on learning from local crafting techniques such as weaving with natural materials to design a domestic piece of furniture which we will then use for our closing ceremony.
Participants will divide their time between our HQ atelier and daily excursions to site visits and designers’ ateliers, as well as hosting talks by visiting lecturers. We will collaborate with a local museum to exhibit our final piece of the work, alongside a live celebration of food, music and local crafts.
