Applicants who apply in the First Application Round of their programme will usually have their interview take place from late January to end of February.
Applicants who apply in the Second Application Round of their programme will usually have their interview take place in late April to early June.
The AA aims to inform each applicant about the outcome of their interview within two weeks, but this may take longer during the busiest periods of the admissions cycle.

For entry into Second Year, successful applicants must have one year of degree-level studies in an Architecture degree.
For entry into Third Year, successful applicants must have two years of degree-level studies in an Architecture degree.
All applicants to all years of entry to the Intermediate Programme must provide evidence of competency in both spoken and written English (please see English Language section below).
Direct entrants to Third Year will not satisfy the required number of credits to obtain a BA (Hons) degree at the AA, and will obtain the following award after one year of full-time study: AA Intermediate Examination (ARB/RIBA Part 1).
From 31 December 2027 the ARB will no longer accredit Undergraduate Part 1 Programmes.
New and continuing AA students from the UK and Ireland, and EU students who hold pre-settled or settled status, are eligible for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company (SLC), equating to £6,000 per academic year. Dependent on financial circumstances, these students may also be eligible for a maintenance loan. To apply, applicants should directly contact the SLC. Please check the Student Finance website for eligibility and further information.
For students who are accepted for an SLC loan and have been awarded a two-term AA scholarship based on academic promise and financial need, which is the most common allocation for Intermediate and Diploma programme students, the total outlay can be less than £3,000 per year.
To apply for an AA Scholarship or Bursary, applicants must apply in the First Application Round. The AA provides a large number of scholarships and bursaries to students who demonstrate exceptional promise and financial need.
Applicants to the First Year of the Intermediate Programme may be eligible to apply for an Albukhary Foundation Scholarship.
The Albukhary Foundation Scholarships have been established to recognise the most academically talented students in need of financial support from one of the United Nation’s list of Least Developed Countries, as well as Ghana, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Palestine, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe.
The scholarship includes full tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses and travel to and from the applicant’s home country. For full details of this scholarship and how to apply, read more below.
Once a deposit has been received, the remainder of a given student’s tuition fees are payable in advance on either an annual or a termly basis.
The tuition fees for each programme are the same for all students, regardless of their nationality. Tuitions Fees are inclusive of AA Membership (£95 per year) and Student Forum Fees.
Applicants who have been offered a place before August 2026 will be given the opportunity to pay the full fees for the academic year to secure a discount for early payment of tuition fees. Full annual tuition fees should be paid by 31 August 2026 for a 3.5% discount. Fees and discounts are subject to annual review.
For applicants applying to join the Intermediate Programme in First Year, the annual Tuition Fee is fixed for three consecutive years of study from 2026–29, subject to successful academic progression.
For applicants applying to join the Intermediate Programme in Second Year, the annual Tuition Fee is fixed for two consecutive years of study from 2026–28, subject to successful academic progression.
Students who do not wish to continue to the Diploma Programme (Fourth Year), can have their deposit refunded at the end of Third Year.
Applicants will need to confirm their current Immigration Status and whether they require a student visa to study in the UK.
Applicants will need to upload a clear scan of their passport photo page. If they have previously held a UK visa, they will be asked to upload copies of any relevant immigration or visa documents.
If applicants confirm that they are a non-UK/Irish citizen and will not require an AA-sponsored student visa, they will be asked if their current immigration permission is in physical or digital format. If they select digital format, they will be asked to provide the share code. It is possible to retrieve a share code from the UK government website here.
The AA is a higher education institution registered as a UKVI Student Sponsor with a track record.
Applicants who require a visa to study in the UK will be supported in their visa application by the AA. A unique Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number will be issued once an applicant has received an Unconditional Offer, formally accepted their place, paid their deposit and submitted the required documentation that confirms their eligibility for the Student Visa.
